In Wiltshire, families quietly live with the everyday weight of someone else’s drug or alcohol dependency. It may feel like you’re carrying that burden alone, but you don’t have to. At Families Out Loud (FOL), we’re dedicated to supporting families in Wiltshire.

Why this matters in Wiltshire

Our county is home to many tight-knit communities, where people often don’t talk about addiction because of stigma or fear. FOL recognises that family addiction support in Wiltshire is not just about helping the person with the addiction; it’s about helping the whole family thrive. Our services are open to any adult or young person 13-17 impacted by a loved one’s substance use.

What we offer

  • Counselling (one-to-one): Safe, confidential space to talk through what you’re experiencing, supported by professionals who understand.

  • Peer support groups: Speak with others who get it – who know what it’s like to live in the background of addiction.

  • Bereavement support: Loss following addiction can feel complex and lonely. We’re here for that too.

  • Online and face-to-face access: We make our services accessible wherever you are in Wiltshire.

You’re always welcome, even if you’ve reached out before

Whether you’ve already accessed our services or you’re brand-new, we want you to know: you’re always welcome to come back. Circumstances change, your needs change, but our support remains. The door is open.

Getting involved: volunteer your time or make a donation

Supporting families isn’t just about receiving help, it can also mean giving in a way that brings hope to others. At FOL:

  • You can volunteer and make a real difference in Wiltshire communities.

  • You can donate. Every gift helps us reach another family who may be struggling in silence.

  • If your workplace or organisation is looking for a Charity of the Year, consider FOL. Your partnership helps us expand services across Wiltshire.

Why now?

There is no “perfect moment” to ask for help, but the moment you choose to step forward makes a difference. The earlier families engage, the less isolation, shame and distress they often experience. Choosing support now means better resilience for you, better outcomes for your family.
