We're delighted to announce that Families Out Loud is expanding its support services, with in-person, one-to-one counselling sessions now available in Swindon for people affected by a loved one's drug or alcohol use.

Living with someone else's substance use can be incredibly challenging. Whether it's a partner, parent, child, sibling or friend, the impact of a loved ones drug or alcohol use can reach into every part of your life, affecting your emotional well-being, relationships and everyday routines.

At Families Out Loud, we believe that everyone affected by someone else's substance use deserves to feel heard, understood and supported. That's why we're pleased to be bringing our counselling service to Swindon, making it easier for local people to access the support they need.

A safe space to talk

When someone you care about is struggling with drugs or alcohol, it can be difficult to know where to turn. You might feel worried about their wellbeing, frustrated by their behaviour, overwhelmed by responsibility or unsure how to manage the situation.

You may also feel isolated, particularly if you're reluctant to share what you're experiencing with friends, family or colleagues. Our one-to-one counselling sessions offer a confidential, supportive space where you can talk openly about your experiences without fear of judgement.

Counselling can help you:

  • Explore and understand your feelings about your loved one's substance use.

  • Develop healthy coping strategies to manage stress, anxiety and uncertainty.

  • Build confidence in setting boundaries and looking after your own well-being.

  • Navigate difficult relationships and challenging family dynamics.

  • Feel less isolated and more empowered to make decisions that are right for you.

Most importantly, counselling gives you the opportunity to focus on your own needs and well-being, something that can easily be overlooked when so much of your energy is spent worrying about someone else.

Supporting families and loved ones in Swindon

Our new in-person sessions mean that people in Swindon can now access face-to-face counselling as part of the support offered by Families Out Loud. You don't need to have all the answers, and your loved one doesn't need to be seeking treatment or recovery for you to ask for help.

Whether you're been dealing with their substance use for years or are only just beginning to understand its impact, we're here to listen.
