If you're a teenager and someone in your family is struggling with drugs or alcohol, you don't have to deal with it alone.
Living with someone else's drug or alcohol use can be difficult, confusing and overwhelming. You might feel angry, worried, embarrassed or upset. You might find it harder to concentrate at school, college or work or want to spend more time on your own, or feel like your emotions are all over the place.
Whatever you're feeling, you don't have to sort it out by yourself.
Support for young people aged 13-17
Families Out Loud offers specialist support for teenagers affected by someone else's drug or alcohol use. Our teen support team provides a confidential space where you can talk about what's happening and how it's affecting you. Most importantly, we'll help you understand that you are not responsible for another person's choices or behaviour.

One-to-one support
Talking privately with a specialist counsellor gives you space to say what you're thinking and feeling, even when those things are difficult to put into words. You can talk openly about what's happening in your family and get support to understand and manage the emotions that come with it.

Meet other young people who understand
Our in-person peer group sessions bring together young people aged 13-17 who have something important in common: they know what it's like when drugs or alcohol affect someone in the family. Through conversation, music, games and activities, you'll have the chance to connect with other young people in a safe and supportive environment.

We're here to listen
You don't have to explain everything. You don't have to pretend everything is fine. And you don't have to go through it alone. We're here to listen.
